I will start this post off by saying what Amazon is for those people who have been living under a rock and don’t know what it is. Amazon is a website where you can buy anything, literally. There is regular Amazon, and Amazon Prime, which is a paid membership but gives you access to Prime Music and Prime Video, as well as free shipping. My lovely boyfriend is obsessed with Amazon and has a Prime account, whereas I only have the regular kind because I did not see a point in having two Prime accounts.
At first, I never understood people’s obsession with Amazon, until I went on it and next thing you know an hour had passed and I was so deep down the rabbit hole. I started to understand why there is a couple packages a week that arrive at our door because my boyfriend orders everything off of this website. It is so convenient! You can get clothes, tools, household items, beauty products, and even groceries!
So I thought; why not dabble in this ordering excitement. It was exciting, and the anticipation for my package(s) to arrive felt like torture because I just wanted my items to come. To be honest, I prefer to shop at a store so that I can have my items immediately because I am the most impatient person on the planet, but waiting almost made it even better. It was like a present for myself that I got to unwrap when it arrived. I ordered supplies for lash extensions (which I do as a service) and they came in a decent amount of time which was great. I don’t like waiting for things so it was nice that you get options for regular delivery or different express shipping. While it is not offered on all items, and with Prime you CAN get items within a day or two, I just chose regular because I did not want to pay too much shipping (also because I am trying to “save”).
The first time I ordered off of Amazon and got my supplies for lash extensions, I got the products in a decent amount of time, packaged well, nothing was damaged, and I was super happy. The second time however, was not so great. I had ordered some beauty supplies to try out and the order came and the Rose Toning spray had shattered and the entire box was soaked. Needless to say, I was not happy. It had ruined a couple other things that came with the order. It was clear that Amazon had packaged the items and not the company who sells them, which was super disappointing, but also that this had happened to me but every time my boyfriend gets a package delivered from Amazon it is fine. I was so not impressed and left to wonder if this was going to happen again.
I have to say, the company I ordered from was not helpful. I reached out to a contact I had with them letting them know what had happened and got a “whatever” type of response. Seriously?! I asked if I could have the products resent and they have yet to respond. This was about a month ago. Not cool. Now, I know that its the companies fault and not Amazon, but what a disappointment this was! The worst part? The company I had ordered from had reached out to me initially to order free products and write reviews on them!! This was my second time ever doing something like this and it had left a bad taste in my mouth, which is why I am so picky when it comes to companies reaching out to me to be an affiliate.
Needless to say, I will order from Amazon again, but I find it so important to read more than just a couple of reviews that people post. Writing reviews on products that you purchase is super helpful to future customers because it gives them an idea of what to expect. Obviously there will be people that have bad experiences and people that have great ones, but it helps to read through reviews and get a better understanding of what to expect so there are no surprises.
Amazon is a great site to find anything and everything, but remember to read reviews to get a better feel for the products on the site! To be honest, I could spend hours on Amazon and find absolutely everything I am looking for, but hopefully in the future I have as great a delivery experience as the first time and there is no repeat of this last ordering experience!
